Referee Dr. Jochen Drees told ARD Radio: “For us, it depends on whether he has climbed a fence or made derogatory gestures. There’s nothing in the rule book that says he can’t take a selfie - I actually think it’s a nice thing.”

It is possible, though, that the German FA will step in, with Drees adding to Bild: “I assume that in the coming days us referees will receive instructions on exactly how to deal with these situations in future.”
