Like most games in this genre, Coral Island is packed with things for players to do. Whether you’re looking to buy gifts, buy seeds for your farm, or just upgrade your home, earning money is a vital part of the gameplay loop in Coral Island. And, one of the best ways to earn money is to start fishing.

To get started fishing in Coral Island, you’ll first need to acquire the Fishing Pole. This item is one of the many basic items you’ll use often in Coral Island, and you’ll unlock it early on in the game, too. It’s actually impossible to miss unlocking this item if you follow the main storyline, so simply follow the steps listed below to acquire it as quickly as possible.

Complete the main quests “Starting Out” and “Home Sweet Home”.

Check the mailbox outside of your house for a letter from Sunny and Eleanor and then head into town and down to the beach area.

Once at the beat, enter Sunny’s Beach Shack and complete the cutscene to unlock the Fishing Pole as well as a Bug Net––which is another useful tool you can use to make money in Coral Island.

When you’ve unlocked the Fishing Pole, make your way down to the water and then equip your Fishing Pole. Once ready, cast your line by pressing and holding down the Left Mouse Button on PC. Now, you need to be patient.

Fishing in Coral Island is a good deal different than it is in Animal Crossing: New Horizons or even Stardew Valley. Instead of simply spamming a button to keep the fish within a certain area or just reeling it in without any effort, you’ll actually need to fight with the fish to pull it in.

To do this, simply reel the fish in by holding down the Left Mouse Button on PC. When the wavy lines on the reeling bar start to appear, release the line so that you don’t snap it.

You’ll then need to complete this song and dance for each fish that you wish to catch. It might seem a little complicated at first, but you’ll get used to the mechanics very quickly. And, you can then build up your inventory of fish to sell off.
