The conservative actor, who famously used the app to support right-wing agendas and rip the members of the left, was absent on the social media app for nearly 10 months. However, the 72-year-old wrote that the “blazing insight” shared on Twitter forced him to return from his “vacation.”
“I’ve tried so hard this past year to live without the wealth of knowledge available on Twitter, but this kind of blazing insight can be found nowhere else, so… I’m back! #AOCStillAMoron,” Woods wrote.
His message was shared alongside a video of Ocasio-Cortez speaking about the “physical impossibility to lift yourself up by a bootstrap.”
Ocasio-Cortez wasn’t the only one Woods fired shots at. The Once Upon a Time in America star took aim at a number of hot topics across the political landscape from President Donald Trump’s recently ended impeachment trial to the sex-trafficking charges that led Jeffery Epstein in prison.
“I was on vacation awhile, avoiding the news. How’d the #Mueller thing work out? The #impeachment scam? Who won the #Iowa caucuses? Is #MichaelAvenatti still a contender for the Democratic nomination for President? How’s #JeffreyEpstein doing?” Woods wrote.
Woods had plenty to say about a number of Democratic leaders, calling Hillary Clinton the “most famous loser in American History,” while Democratic presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren was dubbed a “liar and hypocrite.” He also shared his feelings about presidential candidate Bernie Sanders and claimed the Vermont senator would never make it to the White House.
“Poor Bernie. They aren’t going to let this poor old fool win no matter what he does. He sold his soul to Hillary for a crappy house on a lake in 2016, and the devil will take her due. They will never let you have it, Bernie. The fix is in,” Woods wrote.
Woods was taken aback by the warm welcome he received from a number of his 2.1 million Twitter followers and wrote that he was “in tears” over the kind messages and responses he’d received his rejoining the community.
Before his hiatus from Twitter, Woods had received a ton of backlash over his conservative views and harsh criticism of Democrat sympathizers.
He was sued for defamation by a Portia Boulger in March 2017 after he shared a photo of a woman wearing a Trump T-shirt while gesturing the Nazi salute with the message, “So-called #Trump ‘Nazi’ is a #BernieSanders agitator/operative?”
However, he was spared by the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals for the use of a question mark in the tweet. The court ruled that it was “nearly impossible” to determine if Woods made a false statement of fact because the general context of the message seemed to borderline “sarcasm, exaggeration, and hyperbole.”
His staunchly conservative views also played a role in his former agent’s decision to discontinue representation of him in 2018. Woods shared a screenshot of an email from Ken Kaplan, who is a political liberal, explaining why he would no longer work with the Casino actor.
“It’s the 4th of July and I’m feeling patriotic. I don’t want to represent you anymore. I mean I could go on a rant but you know what I’d say,” the email read.
