The 17-year-old lit up the 2023 World Juniors. Bedard was an integral part in Canada winning back-to-back golds at the tournament. He earned MVP, Best Forward and All-Star honors for his efforts.
The performance from the Regina Pats star was historic. His insane point production allowed him to fly up the record books, even setting three different Canadian World Juniors records at the same time when he scored to open Canada’s quarterfinal matchup against Slovakia.
By the end of that night, the consensus top pick of the 2023 NHL draft had put himself at the top of five different record books, in some cases surpassing the likes of Eric Lindros, Jaromir Jagr and Wayne Gretzky. That’s not bad company to grouped in with.

Every record Connor Bedard broke at the 2023 World Juniors
Most World Juniors points by a Canadian
Bedard entered the 2023 World Juniors with 13 points in his World Juniors career. That counts the first version of the 2022 tournament that was canceled just days into the competition. While the games themselves didn’t count, any stats from those games that were played are still being considered in a player’s World Juniors total.
He needed just 18 points to tie Eric Lindros’ Team Canada record for most World Juniors points, and 19 to beat it. So far, he has 23 points, bringing his total to 36.
What is more impressive about Bedard’s numbers is that Lindros put up 31 points over the span of three tournaments. Bedard hasn’t even played in two full World Juniors and set a new mark.
Most World Juniors goals by a Canadian
Another record that Bedard set was the Canadian record for most career goals at the World Juniors. The record was previously set by Jordan Eberle, who ended his U20 career with 14 tallies.
Bedard entered the 2023 tournament with eight goals and more than doubled that to pass Eberle.
Most points at a single World Juniors by a Canadian
Bedard’s performance at the 2023 tournament has added to his career legacy at the World Juniors, his individual tournament has been one for the record books as well.
MORE: Who has the most points ever at the World Juniors?
Bedard passed Dale McCourt and Brayden Schenn for the Canadian record for most points in a single tournament. McCourt set the previous mark of 18 in 1977 and Schenn tied it in 2011. Now, Bedard has set it at 23.
Most assists at a single World Juniors by a Canadian
Lost in all of Bedard’s goals and points have been his assists. His 14 assists at the 2023 tournament broke Jason Allison’s record of 12 for the most assists at a single World Juniors by a Canadian.
Bedard is now tied with Lindros for second on Canada’s all-time World Juniors assists list with 19 career World Juniors helpers. Ryan Ellis still holds the career record with 20.
Most points at a single World Juniors by a U18 player
Not only is Bedard making history at the World Juniors, but he is also doing it at an unprecedented age.
It’s not often that you see players under the age of 18 years old at the tournament. With teams being able to bring in players up to age 19, countries typically build their rosters with the older kids.
However, when you have someone as good as Bedard, you put him on the roster. He now has the most points for a U18 player at a single tournament, breaking the previous record set by Jaromir Jagr in 1990.
