The Crew forced the ball into Fire territory so quickly that, nine seconds into the match, Chicago keeper Sean Johnson had already knocked down Columbus’ Ethan Finlay, awarding a penalty to the home team. After a few arguments with the referee, Federico Higuain shot and secured the PK at the 1:40 mark for the only goal of the Eastern Conference match.
