The college football season begins in earnest on Thursday with a pair of games featuring Group of 5 and FCS talent. The action will continue two days later, the first fall football Saturday, when six teams kick off their respective season. The opening weekend of college football ends with a primetime event on Labor Day.

Among the notable teams to play this week: American Athletic Conference’s Memphis, SMU and Navy; Conference USA’s UAB and Southern Miss; and independents BYU and Army.
