A late field goal gave the Seminoles a victory over Boston College on Saturday. That, combined with Alabama’s blowout of cupcake Western Carolina, assures the ‘Noles will remain No. 1 in the polls. Right?

Wrong: The Tide were atop the coaches poll. The AP rankings left Florida State at No. 1,  but not by much.

SN’s Matt Hayes calls Florida State “a team that slogs through games and finds a way to win in the fourth quarter.” There’s plenty of reason to see other contenders as better, which is why he has Oregon as his No. 1 team.

So, too, should the Tide remain atop the College Football Playoff rankings when those are updated on Tuesday.

Now comes the week that will shake the polls to their foundation. Week 14 games include the monster rivalry games.

Changes? Few, except for Ole Miss dropping out of the top 10. And, will Nebraska fall from the Top 25?
