The 2022-23 College Football Playoff bracket is set. No. 1 Georgia will face No. 4 Ohio State in the Peach Bowl, while No. 2 Michigan meets No. 3 TCU in the Fiesta Bowl.

Both games take place on New Year’s Eve. Michigan/TCU kicks off at 4 p.m.EST from University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, AZ, followed by Georgia/Ohio State at 8:00 p.m. EST from Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, GA.

National Championship Odds

The National Championship odds heading into the semifinals paint a one-sided picture. The Georgia Bulldogs (13-0, 7-6 ATS) are listed as odds-on favorites at every sportsbook, ranging from -152 at the shortest to -130 at the longest.

Michigan (13-0, 8-4-1 ATS) is a firm second-favorite with odds from +275 to +300, followed by Big Ten rival Ohio State (11-1, 5-6-1 ATS), which is anywhere from +350 to +400.

TCU (12-1, 9-3-1 ATS) is by far the longest shot on the board, despite drawing a more-favorable semifinal matchup than Ohio State. The Horned Frogs are +1600 at the shortest and +1900 at the longest.

Georgia and Ohio State have been among the National Championship favorites since the preseason. Georgia was around +300 in the opening odds while Ohio State was in the +550 range. Michigan was a second-tier contender at +4000. TCU was a monumental longshot at +20000. To put that in perspective, a $10 wager on TCU at the start of the season would pay $2,000 if the Horned Frogs manage to win the title.

Peach Bowl Odds

The opening odds for Georgia vs. Ohio State established the Bulldogs as 6.5-point chalk in their own backyard. The moneyline odds favor Georgia at -250 with Ohio State a +210 underdog.

This is actually the smallest spread Georgia has seen all season, and by a decent margin. The only other time UGA was favored by less than a touchdown was in its showdown with then-No. 1 Tennessee. Georgia smashed the Volunteers 27-13 as 9.5-point home favorites.

Ohio State will also be in an unfamiliar position when this game kicks off. The Buckeyes have been favored by at least 7.5 points in every game this season. They haven’t been an underdog since the 2020 edition of the College Football Playoff when they entered the National Championship Game as 9.5-point underdogs to No. 1 Alabama.

The game total for the Peach Bowl opened at 60.5. Georgia is 5-8 over/under on the season while the Buckeyes are 9-3. Only two teams in the country hit more overs than Ohio State (Houston and USC).

Fiesta Bowl Odds

The odds for the Fiesta Bowl opened with Michigan as 9.5-point favorites over TCU and a game total of 59.5. The moneyline odds favor Michigan at a -330 price tag with the Horned Frogs at a long +275 to advance to their first-even National Championship Game.

Unlike Ohio State, this isn’t novel territory for TCU. The Frogs were sizable underdogs twice during the regular season, but won both games straight-up. In early October, TCU was a five-point home underdog to Oklahoma and routed the Sooners 55-24. Six weeks later, Sonny Dykes and company were 7.5-point underdogs at Texas and completely shut down the Longhorns en route to a 17-10 win.

This defensively-stout Michigan side has a 4-8 over/under record on the season, while TCU is 7-6 to the over.

After the semifinals on New Year’s Eve, there will be a nine-day break until the National Championship Game on Jan. 9, 2023. This year’s title game takes place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA (home to the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers).
