Belhaven reported the driver had been drinking in its announcement of Rich’s death.
Police had yet to determine what caused the crash, nor had the been able to confirm whether the driver had been drinking.
Rich, a 5-10, 185-pound wide receiver from Memphis, had two catches for 13 yards this season.
