Ohio State and Oregon met 76 years ago in the first-ever NCAA basketball tournament — an eight-game, single-elimination style playoff at Northwestern’s campus in Evanston, Ill.

The Ducks beat the Buckeyes, 46-33, if you’re hoping for history to (somewhat) repeat itself on Jan.12.
There’s some college basketball crossover (no pun intended) on this year’s Oregon squad. Junior defensive lineman Arik Armstead (6-8, 290 pounds) joined the basketball team as a freshman in 2012, redshirting that year as the Ducks advanced to the Sweet 16 in Indianapolis.
He’s not Oregon’s only dual-sport athlete, though.
Wide receiver Johnathan Loyd joined the football team this past spring after a four-year stint with the basketball team in which he became the winningest player in school history with 97 career wins.
