Don’t expect Kaepernick to take Russo’s words to heart; the 49ers quarterback has said plainly in the past he has no desire to connect with her.

Russo joined the chorus of disapproval Saturday after Kaepernick sat for the playing of “The Star-Spangled Banner” to protest what he considers unjust treatment of African-Americans and other racial minorities in the United States. The New York Post unearthed her tweet Monday.

This may as well have come from an anonymous Twitter troll. Russo gave up Kaepernick, who is biracial, for adoption when he was an infant. Kaepernick considers his adoptive mom and dad, Teresa and Rick Kaepernick, his family. We’ve yet to hear or read anything from them. Their words (likely to be delivered in private) will carry infinitely more weight.

As for Russo, she has been dealing with her own set of trolls who’ve played the race card, the social media card and every other card in the troll deck. She compounded her problems by blasting people for using social media to blast her after she blasted her biological son on social media.

Not that Kaepernick is keeping up with any of that.
