It was reported earlier in the day that Hamels would miss his next start due to a hamstring issue. That, paired with the cleaned out locker was a perfect mix of facts for a great prank. He even went as far as to remove his locker nameplate.
Just because Hamels wasn’t traded Thursday doesn’t mean he won’t be traded soon. The non-waiver trade deadline is six weeks away and he’s a valuable asset the Phillies could use in exchange for some rebuilding blocks.
