Newsweek has everything you need to know about CNN+ including its launch date, cost, content, and everything else you need to know.
When is CNN+ Available and What Does It Cost?
After almost one year of waiting, CNN+ launches on Tuesday, March 29.
Back in July 2021, CNN announced the arrival of the streaming platform, describing it as “the evolution of video news and the start of a new era for the company.”
To watch CNN+, you can sign up to the platform now for $5.99 per month or $59.99 per year.
Customers who sign up within the first month of CNN+’s launch and directly with the network will receive a 50 percent discount on their monthly plan as long as they remain subscribers.
What Shows Are On CNN+?
CNN+ will feature eight to twelve hours of live programming per day, including a range of original programming and a library of CNN original series such as documentaries. There will also be interactive programming, allowing audiences to engage with some of the live shows.
In a statement announcing the platform, CNN+ Chief digital officer Andrew Morse teased: “It’s not going to be a news headline service,” citing opportunities for “more deep dives” into subjects such as “climate change; space and science; and race and identity.”
He added: “You’re also going to see things that surprise you.”
In December 2021, CNN announced long-time Fox News journalist Chris Wallace had joined the network to host his own talk-show program on the streaming service.
Former NBC News correspondent Kasie Hunt was the first to join CNN+. She will have her own show focusing on politics titled, The Source with Kasie Hunt.
In January 2022, former NPR host Audie Cornish joined CNN+ and is set to host her own interview show, 20 Questions with Audie Cornish.
Marketing Professor Scott Galloway has joined CNN+ as a contributor, as well as NBA star Rex Chapman and chef Alison Roman.
Actress Eva Longoria signed up to CNN+ with her own documentary series, Eva Longoria: Searching for Mexico. The six-part series will follow Longoria on her travels around Mexico, exploring food from tequila to mole sauce, and is inspired by CNN’s series, Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy.
Announcing the documentary series, Longoria said in a statement per Variety: “Partnering with CNN on a culinary-driven expedition throughout Mexico is a dream come true. I am so proud of my Mexican-American roots and can’t wait to bring the hidden gems of Mexico to the world through Searching for Mexico.
“I am a huge fan of Stanley’s journey throughout Italy; he set the bar high, and I can’t wait for everyone to fall in love with the magic of Mexico.”
CNN+ will also feature a cooking show hosted by Alison Roman, a talk show led by Don Lemon, a book club hosted by Jake Tapper, and a parenting show fronted by Anderson Cooper.
