The Democrat incumbent defeated his Republican opponent, the former football star Herschel Walker in Tuesday’s ballot, handing President Joe Biden and his party a key win.
Getting 51.4 percent of the vote compared with the 48.6 percent that Walker received has given the Democrats an outright 51-49 majority in the Senate. It follows two years of a 50-50 divide in which the party relied on Vice President Kamala Harris to cast tie-breaking votes.
So there was plenty to get excited about when the results came in—but it was footage of what appears to be a Warnock staffer enjoying the victory that has also been the center of attention.
Video filmed of NBC coverage of the results shows the man showing off some serious dance moves at the arena after Warnock gave his victory speech at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis.
“Who is this?!” wrote Twitter user @notcapnamerica, quoting the clip, which, as of Thursday afternoon, had been viewed nearly half a million times.
Twitter user @taradublinrocks wrote: “Check out the dance moves on mustache dude after Warnock’s victory speech.”
In a follow-up message, @notcapnamerica said that he had discovered the dancing staffer’s identity. “Found him: Stuart Guillory, Director of Scheduling for Raphael Warnock.” Newsweek has contacted Warnock’s office for comment.
The runoff was triggered because neither candidate won an outright majority in the November election.
The contest between Warnock and Walker was the first in the state between two Black contenders. Warnock made history nearly two years ago when he became the first Black U.S. senator to represent the Peach State.
In his victory speech, Warnock, a pastor from Ebenezer Baptist Church, told his supporters: “You are sending a clear message to the country about the kind of world we want for our children.”
“It is my honor to utter the four most powerful words ever spoken in a democracy: The people have spoken,” he said.
His campaign manager Quentin Fulks told NBC News that the victory was, in part, down to the attempts to appeal to independent and Republican-leaning voters who had reservations about Walker.
The result delivers another blow to Donald Trump who had backed Walker. It makes him the latest candidate endorsed by the former president who has failed to win competitive races.
