Crawley accepted a post-show proposal from Benoit Beauséjour-Savard after they appeared together on The Bachelor Winter Games. Viewers know their relationship didn’t actually take off on the series. While Beauséjour-Savard fell for Crawley, she wanted to explore other relationships. He left the show midseason, single and heartbroken.
Apparently, they started talking digitally after the series wrapped and came together for their quick engagement on the series’s tell-all special in February 2018. They split shortly after, announcing the broken engagement on Instagram in April the same year.
Like many couples in the public eye, the pair claimed to still care about each other, despite parting ways. “We understand A lot of you have been asking about our relationship since the show, and we wanted to thank you all for the love and respect as we navigated it in real life off camera,” they wrote in the now-deleted post. This line seemed to reference speculation they’d split, as neither were sharing photos of the other online in the time following their split.
“I’m sorry that this may not be what you want to hear, but it’s our truth. Just know there are no negative feelings here, we are simply two people who believed in love, and were open enough to give it a chance.”
Beauséjour-Savard expressed feelings about Crawley becoming The Bachelorette, too. He shared a kind message on Instagram and a photo of them as a couple. “Congratulations to this gem!! She will be an amazing Bachelorette,” he wrote. “She is smart, fun, strong, knows what she wants and most importantly, she will call out the guys messing around!! Hell yeah!! Good Luck on your journey to find love.”
Crawley was almost engaged one time before when she was one of the final two women featured on Juan Pablo Galavis’s season of The Bachelor. That’s when Crawley gained such a loyal fanbase. After what some considered offensive remarks in which Galavis told Crawley he didn’t want her as a mother to his daughter, due to their intimate moments on the show, Crawley stood up for herself in an iconic Bachelor franchise moment.

In all settings, Crawley has broken the mold on how the franchise is supposed to work. From speaking her truth to getting engaged after the fact, it’s fair to expect the unexpected with Crawley around. That appears to be true in her upcoming Bachelorette season, too, which is already predicted to sway far off track.
