In a press release on Wednesday, Circle K said it is “offering 40 cents off per gallon of fuel between 4 and 7 p.m. local time during Circle K Fuel Day.”

“At over 3,600 Circle K branded fuel locations across the U.S. in advance of the Labor Day holiday weekend, customers can fuel up for the unofficial last weekend of summer and receive the deal directly at the pump,” the press release added.

The announcement from Circle K comes as gas prices around the nation have continued to decrease following several months of above-average prices. According to data from AAA, the current national average gas price is listed at $3.841. In comparison, one month ago, data from AAA showed that the national average gas price was $4.220.

In a recent press release, AAA spokesperson Andrew Gross said, “Drivers are now benefiting from gas prices that are $1.11 less than their peak in mid-June.”

In announcing the upcoming sale, Nathan Woodland, head of North America Category Fuels at Circle K, said, “It’s been a challenging summer for travel, so we want to thank our customers for their loyalty by offering them additional savings ahead of the busy holiday weekend, ending the summer on a high note….Our Circle K Fuel Day will also kick off an entire month of deals inside our stores.”

According to the press release, the “Circle K Fuel Day” will be offered at participating locations, and consumers interested in taking advantage of the sales can use the Circle K store locater on the company’s website.

“The price on the pump reflects the discounted price during that time. Any customer in line for gas before 7 p.m. will receive the 40 cents off discount,” the press release said.

As the press release noted, the upcoming sale is set to begin just ahead of the Labor Day weekend, when many Americans are likely to travel. A recent survey conducted by Cars.com found that among 64 percent of Americans who said they plan to travel for Labor Day weekend, 80 percent will travel by driving.

“Of those not planning to travel for the holiday, nearly a quarter cited high gas prices as the reason—significantly lower than the 42% of respondents who cited high gas prices as their reason for staying home over Fourth of July weekend,” Cars.com said in a press release with the survey.
