Banks usually observe the same holidays as the Federal Reserve System, and will generally be closed on these holidays.
The holidays observed by the Federal Reserve System are New Year’s Day, Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday, Washington’s Birthday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
So are banks closed on Christmas Eve? Despite President Donald Trump making Christmas Eve a federal holiday this year—giving some federal employees the day off—as the day before Christmas is not an official holiday, banks will likely remain open.
However, banks may be operating with limited or modified hours for the holiday. Find out below which banks will be open as well as their hours for Christmas Eve.
