In the post, Teigen revealed that she still has a bump from the pregnancy, and characterized it as a disappointing reminder of what happened.

“Even though I’m no longer pregnant, every glance in the mirror reminds me of what could have been. And I have no idea why i [sic] still have this bump, honestly. It’s frustrating,” she wrote.

Teigen also shared that she was sad that she won’t get to have another child. “I love being pregnant, so so much, and I’m sad I never will be again. But I am lucky to have two amazing little ones who are transforming into big little people more and more every single day,” she wrote.

Teigen first made her miscarriage public knowledge in an Instagram post on September 30. She shred pictures of herself, clearly distraught, in a hospital room. Some of the pictures also showed her taking solace with her husband, singer-songwriter John Legend. She wrote that the couple was grieving the child’s loss and said that she and Legend had planned to name the baby Jack.

Almost a month later, Teigen wrote a lengthy followup on Medium, reflecting on the experience, explaining why she shared the photos and thanking people for the well-wishes that she’d received in the month since losing the baby.

She also heart-wrenchingly spoke about the couple saying their goodbyes in the hospital, and that the couple planned to use Jack’s ashes to plant a tree in their yard.

“My mom, John and I each held him and said our own private goodbyes, mom sobbing through Thai prayer. I asked the nurses to show me his hands and feet and I kissed them over and over and over again. I have no idea when I stopped. It could have been 10 minutes or an hour,” she wrote on Medium.

Near the end of the Medium post, Teigen also wrote about how she and Legend would reassure their children and make sure that Jack’s memory would live on. “Jack will always be loved, explained to our kids as existing in the wind and trees and the butterflies they see,” she wrote.
