The fan-driven event, which was hosted by Saturday Night Live star Kenan Thompson, was attended by a host of celebrities in California, as they celebrated the biggest hits and the brightest stars from the movie and TV worlds.
However, hours after the televised festivities came to an end, Stause took to Twitter on Wednesday to share a claim that bosses of the show did not allow her to attend with her partner, G Flip, with whom she went public earlier this year.
“I am on the sauce a bit so I will prob regret this later. BUT people’s choice didn’t allow me to bring my partner to the awards,” Stause began her string of tweets. “I could ONLY bring a plus 1 if it was a cast member. Wtf.”
“Sure this means I will never be nominated again but honestly fu,” the real estate agent and reality TV star continued.
Selling Sunset was nominated for an award in the Reality Show Of 2022 category, while Stause was the sole cast member to receive a Reality TV Star Of 2022 nod.
Hulu’s The Kardashians won in the show category, while one of its stars, Khloé Kardashian, beat Stause for the individual prize.
“EVERY single cast member invited and some had plus ones. I was nominated for best realty star and yet they said NO. Again fu,” she said on Twitter on Wednesday.
“I didn’t know till I got there that everyone was invited. So wtf was the issue?!” Stause said, before further discussing her Australian musician partner.
When a Twitter user advised Stause to “ask them directly and tell us the answer,” the Netflix star responded: “Oh I have. Putting it on twitter was the very last result of endless back and forth for weeks about it.”
“G isn’t in the country so ended up not being able to go anyway but we only realized that recently,” she tweeted. “Up until a few days ago I was fighting to get them in and only to see everyone invited. Gtfoh.”
“If you are going to invite the whole cast of #sellingsunset @peopleschoice awards then why did my plus one HAVE to be a cast member or other wise told I do not get a plus one..?? If no other cast invited then that would make sense but…” Stause added, completing her post with a gif of Cardi B yelling, “What was the reason?”
A Twitter user responded by suggesting that perhaps the event organizers were “hoping you would take a cast member so then maybe that means two invitations become one or something & they have more space for others.”
“Fine but why would some have a plus one and not me who was individually nominated from the cast,” Stause responded. “I just really hate b*******. Clearly what I was told was not the reason and no one tried to clear it up. I love the idea of the ‘people’s choice’ but this Hollywood game is f*****.”
“I get it—there are WAY bigger issues,” Stause added. “But these are the things people normally don’t say out loud unless they have multiple correspondence receipts and have had one too many tequilas and dgaf.”
In the midst of Stause’s social media rant, her Selling Sunset castmate, Davina Potratz, responded that she had also faced similar issues.
“I wanted to bring someone too but couldn’t,” Potratz commented.
Newsweek has reached out to representatives of the People’s Choice Awards for comment.
Stause and G Flip, whose real name is Georgia Claire Flipo, first went public with their romance during a reunion episode of Selling Sunset that debuted back in May.
When Stause was asked if she had embarked on another relationship five months after her breakup from her boss and Selling Sunset co-star Jason Oppenheim, the former Days of Our Lives actress spoke about her “extremely talented” partner.
“You don’t get to choose where you meet someone,” she said. “You don’t get to choose when you meet someone in their life.
“So recently, I’ve met someone that is in a different place in their life as well. I recently have been spending a lot of time with someone that’s very important to me. Their name is G Flip.”
“They’re non-binary, so they go by they/them [pronouns], and they are an extremely talented musician,” added Stause, who said that the pair met after G Flip approached her to appear one of their music videos.
Addressing the surprise from her co-stars and her ex Oppenheim, Stause said: “I’m still very attracted to masculine energy and a good human.
“I hear people talk about these things and [say], ‘I knew from a young age,’ and that’s not me. I’m just very open to good energy and I don’t know what my future holds, but it is a complicated issue to talk about.”
