The 67-year-old actor, who vehemently denies the allegations made against him, quietly returned to Instagram on February 16 for the first time since December.
Sharing a photo of his son Orion, 14, in the midst of a basketball game, the screen star wrote: “SWISH. It’s a thrill to watch his love for basketball blossom.”
The former Sex and the City star returned to the image-sharing platform days later to dedicate a post to his son, Keats, as he celebrated his second birthday.
Captioning a photo that showed what appeared to be his and his son’s shadows as Keats sat atop his shoulders, the actor wrote: “Feb 18—Happy Birthday little Keats—you have brought light and blue skies into our lives!”
Noth’s return to social media, which was met with elation by a large number of his Instagram followers, comes after he denied multiple claims of sexual harassment.
Three women alleged in separate interviews with The Hollywood Reporter and The Daily Beast that Noth had sexually assaulted them several years ago.
Soon after the articles were published in December, actress Zoe Lister-Jones accused Noth of “sexually inappropriate” behavior. That same month, country singer Lisa Gentile also alleged that the actor had sexually assaulted her.
Responding to the allegations at the time, Noth said in a statement: “The accusations against me made by individuals I met years, even decades, ago are categorically false. These stories could’ve been from 30 years ago or 30 days ago—no always means no—that is a line I did not cross.
“The encounters were consensual. It’s difficult not to question the timing of these stories coming out. I don’t know for certain why they are surfacing now, but I do know this: I did not assault these women.”
The allegations were made public soon after Noth reprised his Sex and the City character John “Mr. Big” Preston in the premiere episode of spinoff series And Just Like That…. While his character passed away in the first episode, plans for him to appear in later flashback scenes were scrapped in light of the allegations.
Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon—who co-starred with Noth in Sex and the City and And Just Like That…—said in a joint statement that they were standing by the actor’s accusers.
“We are deeply saddened to hear the allegations against Chris Noth,” the actresses said. “We support the women who have come forward and shared their painful experiences. We know it must be a very difficult thing to do and we commend them for it.”
The fallout from the allegations led to Noth being fired from his role in The Equalizer, and dropped by his talent agency. It was also revealed that a planned $12 million sale of the actor’s Ambhar tequila brand had been canceled.
Peloton took down a viral ad shot in reaction to his And Just Like That… character dying after using one of its stationary bikes. Actor Ryan Reynolds, who produced the clip, also removed it from his Instagram feed in light of the allegations.
