In Extraction, Hemsworth plays the dark and brooding Tyler Rake. Tyler, a mercenary-for-hire, has been ordered to rescue the kidnapped son, Ovi Mahajan (Rudhraksh Jaiswal), of an international crime lord. While attempting to keep the kid alive, Tyler discovers the two will actually need each other’s help to survive.
Tyler refuses to give up on the boy as the intense danger escalates. The two are being shot at while Tyler spins the vehicle around in a fast-paced car chase. Though Ovi doesn’t trust him, he has to believe Rake will keep his promise and won’t abandon him.
In the early morning, Hemsworth tweeted, “So happy to finally be able to share the trailer for Extraction with you all! This has been a difficult few months for all of us, and we hope this will provide a bit of entertainment while we are all staying home.”
Hemsworth recently described his character to USA Today, “He’s come to terms with the fact that his number could be up any second. The innocence and purity from this young kid reminds him that there’s still more to do on Earth before he departs.”
“Every sort of perspective you have on anything in life changes when you have a child – it’s no longer about you, it’s about them,” added Hemsworth. “The idea of that not being the case or the loss of a child, I can’t imagine anything worse.”
