But Hemsworth’s 10-year-old daughter India Rose takes on a particularly important role in the film, playing a character that will possibly change the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as fans know it.

Here is everything you need to know.

Chris Hemsworth’s Daughter India Rose’s Role in ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ Explained

Hemsworth’s daughter India Rose portrays the titular Love in the film, and she is important because she actually began in the role of Gorr the God Butcher’s (Bale) daughter.

India Rose’s character is sure to be a key part of the MCU because Gorr brings her back to life with the help of Eternity, the cosmic being that is the personification of the universe.

Gorr’s entire villain origin story centers on his daughter’s death and the Gods’ lack of interest in her life and the lives of all humans. He seeks out Eternity in order to be granted a wish as the first person to reach him, which Thor believes will be to kill all gods in one fell swoop.

In the end Gorr does not wish for this but for his daughter to be brought back to life, and Eternity grants this for him and appears to give Love his power too.

Gorr asks Thor to take care of his daughter after his death, and the God of Thunder agrees. In the film’s final moments the duo are seen preparing to fight bad guys with the young girl’s eyes glowing purple to show the powers she shares with Eternity.

Introducing Eternity in Thor: Love and Thunder appears to explain where the MCU is going next, and paired with the Celestials that appear in Eternals and other Gods featured in the likes of Moon Knight it seems like Earth’s mightiest heroes are about to go galactic.

Hemsworth’s eldest daughter is not the only one of his children to appear in the Thor film as his son Tristan plays Kid Thor while Tristan’s twin Sasha portrays an Asgardian Kid.

Speaking about having his children in the Marvel film with movie critic Kevin McCarthy, Hemsworth said: “It’s really cool. They really wanted to be in it. Taika had his children in there. Christian Bale had his. Natalie had her kids as well.”

Waititi’s daughters Te Kainga O’Te Hinekahu and Matewa Kiritapu play Asgardian kids, as does Portman’s children Aleph and Amalia Millepied.

In the interview, Hemsworth added: “It felt sort of like a one-off, fun family experience. I don’t want them to now go and be child stars and actors. It was just a special experience we all had and I loved it. They had a great time.”

Hemsworth’s remarks suggest that his and wife Elsa Pataky’s children may not make further appearances in the MCU, even if India Rose has taken on such an integral role in the franchise.

Thor: Love and Thunder is out in theaters now.
