Cherry has proved herself to be something of a scene stealer since making her debut in the drama’s second season as new character Faye, marking a departure from her previous roles in adult films.

But Cherry has revealed that she had long been familiar with the plotline of the show, as she once teamed up with a fellow adult film star to shoot a scene based on the relationship between Zendaya’s Rue and Hunter Schafer’s Jules.

She said in an interview with Nylon magazine: “My friend and I, who’s also an adult movie star, we were just both huge fans of the show and we thought that that one scene [with Rue and Jules] was just so beautiful.

“When you’re making a porn parody, the best way to make them is scenes like that, where they’re already insinuating that sex is about to happen. So that’s usually what people would want to see in terms of a porn parody. Fans really, really liked it. They thought it was awesome.”

And while reimagining scenes from a show in pornographic fashion might seem like the basis of an awkward introduction to the series’ stars, Cherry said that she was thrilled to be in the presence of so many “amazing personalities.”

“It was awesome, because I was a huge fan of the show, and I thought they were all amazing,” she said of her time on the set. “It was just absolutely unreal to see everybody in person. Everybody’s so beautiful and so nice, and they all have amazing personalities, and they’re all so talented.

“To see it all close up is just so incredible. It was just so much talent in one room, so much sense of humor and just great sense of fashion. Everyone’s really smart and very just, creative and talented. So it was super, super cool to see everyone in person, but it was even cooler that they’re such cool people, you know?”

Elsewhere in the interview, Cherry explained that she landed the role after Euphoria director Sam Levinson contacted her on Instagram after finding her posts amusing.

“He just thought I was funny,” she said. “Then a casting company had me the audition, so I sent in tapes and stuff. Then when I went in to do the audition, [Sam] was like, ‘Oh, I was hoping it would be good.’ And I was, ‘Wow, that’s incredible.’

“When I’m posting things, I’m just doing it to make myself laugh. And it’s funny, you never know who’s watching.”

For Cherry, making the transition from adult films to appearing in a hit show was a seamless one—mainly because she sees little difference between the two.

“It’s funny because when I think about from me before I was an actress of any kind, I as a viewer never really saw difference between different kinds of movies,” she said. “To me, it was all like, you’re all acting, you’re all beautiful people.

“So I guess as the viewer, I never really saw a difference in it, but I guess that was just me, maybe. I’m an actress, just through and through an actress. I’ve acted for a long time. And it’s a different experience, but I would just through and through call myself an actress.”

As such, Cherry is hoping that her Euphoria stint will lead to more roles, as she said: “I hope to be perfect for lots of people’s film projects. I hope to be able to be in a lot more shows and everything. I think that I can play unique characters.

“I think that there’s a lot that I can do. I like portraying things that are very different from myself. And I think that there are a lot of different roles and things that I could totally fill and really thrive in.”

“I think I have huge, huge range. Huge range,” she added. “I think that I could do so much, and I honestly like doing the tougher roles.”

In a recent interview with i-D magazine, Cherry had high praise for Zendaya, saying of the Emmy-winning star: “It’s shocking how normal and chill she is. She’s just a real person. She liked good memes. I’m so happy that she’s my generation’s A-lister. She’s relatable and aspirational.”

Euphoria Season 2 airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET on HBO Max.
