At a signing ceremony in Denver Tuesday, Polis reversed orders that were made by Territorial Governor John Evans in 1864, stating that they “shamefully targeted and endangered the lives” of indigenous people. The proclamations led to the Sand Creek Massacre—one of the deadliest mass murders in American history—in which the U.S. Army attacked Cheyenne and Arapaho people and slaughtered at least 230. “When then-Gov. Evans made that proclamation, he said, ‘you can hunt Native people,’ just as if you hunted buffalo and antelope and elk and deer—it was open season,” Reggie Wassana, governor of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes based in Wyoming said during the ceremony, according to the Colorado Sun....
Since August, Colorado has seen its two largest wildfires to date—the Cameron Peak Fire and East Troublesome Fire—which have collectively burnt through more than 400,000 acres. The East Troublesome Fire, which began on October 14 just north of Hot Sulphur Springs, moved rapidly through Grand County and into the Rocky Mountain National Park. Griswold filed the lawsuit on Thursday, seeking to strip County Clerk Peters of her powers administering elections in Mesa County. Mathis, 33, tested positive for a male fertility drug called clomiphene citrate, generically known as Clomid, according to NFL.com. Mathis led the NFL in sacks last season with 19 1/2 and was the initial winner of the league's Deacon Jones Award. He is fifth on the active career sacks list with 111, all with the Colts, where he has spent his entire 11-year career. In a statement posted on his Twitter account, Mathis said he was taking a prescription last season, which he did not name, because he and his wife had "fertility challenges,'' and that the prescribing doctor "incorrectly" told him the drug would not cause a problem with league testing....
